Covex® Floating Cover

IEC’s newest floating cover system for wastewater treatment applications Covex® is easy to install, requiring no special skills or equipment.

COVEX® FLOATING COVER

IEC’s new Covex® floating cover system is designed for a wide range of applications, including tanks and lagoons of all sizes and shapes including those with variable water level changes, irregular water lines and multiple pipe penetrations. Covex® floating cover is a superior alternative to more commonly known products like pond balls, bird balls, and barrier balls. The cover is constructed of industrial strength HDPE that is pre-filled with water for ballast. The ultra-low profile of Covex® provides superior wind-resistance with coverage up to 98% of the water surface.

Evaporation Reduction

Covex® minimizes water loss due to evaporation by covering up to 98% of the water surface and reducing the evaporative effects of wind and wave action.

In addition, shading of the water cools the water surface temperature which further reduces evaporation.

Algae, TSS and Biofilm Reduction

Blocking sunlight from penetrating the water column eliminates photosynthesis which algae and aquatic plants rely upon for growth and establishment.

The result is improved water quality and disinfection.

Covex® can eliminate the need for expensive alternative methods such as chemical dosing and mechanical separation equipment.

Odor Reduction

Elimination of the air-to-water interface reduces transmission of odors emitted from the water surface.

The nesting arrangement of the cover tiles is a quick, and easy way of covering a water surface without expensive engineering designs and installation requirements.

Wildlife Deterrent

Covex® can also be used as a deterrent to waterfowl and other wildlife by “hiding” the visible liquid surface.

The cover provides an appearance of a non-liquid, solid, monolithic surface, thus deterring wildlife from the water source.

STABILITY and Wind Resistance

The hexagonal tiles are ballasted (pre-filled at the factory) with water in the central chamber to give it stability in all operating conditions.

The low-profile aerodynamic design has a low center of gravity providing exceptional wind resistance and stability.
